Do you lose respect for high school coaches....

...when you look at their Twitter follows and they are following a bunch of 10 and 11 year old's who are "nationally ranked" and "elite" at the game of football? Has it really gotten to the point that you have to kiss the ass of kid who hasn't gone through puberty yet since you think he could be good down the road and don't want to miss out on recruiting him?

Sad to see EFT Sports Performance closing....

Very saddened to see EFT Sports Performance closing after a tremendous run over these many years. I was made aware of this happening a while back and our top priority was to honor our commitments towards the Showcase camps we already had on the books. The camps went off without a hitch....every coach worker and vendor has been paid in full and that was also a top priority for me as well.

I have nothing but the utmost love and respect for Elias Karras, founder of EFT as we have become close friends and business partners. Elias has been just terrific to work with along with everyone associated with EFT for the various camps and showcase events and I know that our paths will against cross.

As for my future camp plans....I fully 100 percent plan to continue forward. Stay tuned.

Best recruit from losing team

Woodstock Marian is down on their luck as a program but just had their TE commit to Clemson. He had offers from virtually every major program and is the #4 TE in his class.

What other big time recruits have come from teams that didn’t see success in the W/L column?

Marian is doing something right (junior QB is also a D1 kid) but for some reason not seeing success on the field.

The Way Of The Tailgate!

All.... And I thought I was a pro at running a long spirited tailgate. Ratsy

My Take: EDGYTIM/EFT Showcase WR/DB/QB Session

701 DB Havy Payne Mount Carmel 2025- Younger brother of former Simeon/NIU S Leon Payne, Havy no question will develop into a very strong cornerback at the high college level. Payne has good size, impressive speed and twitch and made it his job to cover every top receiver at this event. I also saw Payne do the same thing the day before at Boom and his overall game and intensity did not drop off one bit. Love Havy's overall awareness, ability to break quickly on the football along with hisw ability to track the deep ball.

705 DB Efrein Ramirez Minooka 2024 Local kid for me who has been just a very solid all around football player for the hometown Indians and Ramirez also showed well at this event. Ramierz has good size and length who could develop into a big corner or safety at the higher college level. Ramirez also has a terrific motor and took a ton of reps in one on ones.

715 DB Jovan Plaxico Homewood Flossmoor 2024- Another nice looking athlete from H-F show was pretty solid in positional drill work and also in one on ones.

719 DB AJ Bowlin Homewood Flossmoor 2024- See above. Bowlin showed some good overall quickness, start and stop ability and change of direction in positional work.

803 WR Luke Mailander York 2024- Another name who I saw live in 2022 who had a strong season along with a good showing here. Mailander has very good hands, was able to make some nice catches in one on ones and is a name to watch this spring and summer.

804 WR Evan Agosto Maine South 2024- Agosto also had a strong 2022 season for the Hawks and was another Maine South kid who impressed here.

805 WR Donovan Anderson Minooka 2024- Anderson is another home town kid for me who has a lot to offer. Anderson has good size (6-foot-3, 170 pounds) who also has length, strong hands and also ran pretty well here. I definitely will be looking more into Anderson this spring and summer.

807 WR Charlie Cruse Downers Grove North 2025 A younger guy who is already on my recruiting radar. Cruse has good ball skills and tools, showed good hands here and also just has a lot to offer down the road physically and will get bigger and stronger. Could wind up being a multi-positional type for the Trojans.

811 WR Kam Chigi Minooka 2024 - My favorite memory from 2022 of Kam Chigi was his hustle on special teams who was just fearless in kick coverage and more than once or twice made some massive hits and big plays. Chigi is also a very solid receiver who I also feel has the ability to play say safety at the next level. Chigi runs well, showed good hands and good awareness in one on ones.

818 WR Matt Kuczaj Wheaton North 2024 - Another strong all around player and receiver here. I was impressed on tape with Kuczaj's ability to just go get the football, is already physically advanced and played equally as well at defensive back in 2022.

822 WR Quinn Morris Plainfield East 2025 - Quinn Morris has big time ability and upside potential and is a name that continues to draw more and more recruiting traction this winter. Morris, the younger brother of former Nazareth Academy and now Michigan WR Tyler Morris has great size and length, his ball skills and speed continues to improve and Morris keeps getting bigger, thicker and stronger every time I see him in person. A quiet kid off the field, yet Morris game on the field is starting to really speak for him.

826 WR Travis Stamm Lyons Township 2025- I saw Stamm live in 2022, and he is coming off a strong 2022 season for the Lions. While I didn't get to watch him here as much as I wanted, his overall play drew raves and notice from the positional coaches on Monday.

833 WR Talyn Taylor Geneva 2025 - Talyn Taylor's overall recruiting stock is starting to his a new level and after this performance along with his Boom showing I fully expect more offers to come sooner rather than later. Taylor has impressive size, is physically mature and in some ways looks to be college ready now. Taylor's hands and ball skills are off the charts, seems to catch everything in his area code and has enough dog in him to take on and beat the opposing defenders jams and man coverage. Scary that Talyn Taylor is just a sophomore and his upside is tremendous. No question Taylor will be a Top Midwest name in the Class of 2025....if he isn't already.

854 WR Camren Williams Homewood Flossmoor 2024- Speedy and athletic receiver who stood out in one on ones.

858 WR Anthony Lorenzo Boylan 2025- Boylan has a nice group of offensive skill kids coming back for 2023 including Anthony Loreno. Lorenzo, who's more of a slotback type runs really well, has some serious gears and was just hand for everyone to cover in one on ones.

863 WR Nicholas Aerogundade Loyola Academy 2024 - Good sized kid here with good length and reach who also ran pretty well here. I didn't see as much as I wanted on Aerogundade but he's a name I'll dig deeper into this spring.

864 WR Maurice Densmore Maine South 2024- Steady, consistently strong player and receiver who just shows up, makes plays and then gets back to work. Densmore has really thrived at Maine South and he's become a top target who just gets open and makes big catch after big catch.

865 WR Anthony Hood Whitney Young 2024 Another name I did not know until this event. Hood has nice size (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) who ran good routes, showed good hands and was just pretty good here overall. Coaches also lauded Hood for his ability to adjust and learn quickly on the fly.

901 QB Ethan Plumb St Charles North 2025 Ethan Plumb was in a battle for the starting position at North all season in 2022 and ended up getting a ton of rep and work last season. Plumb is just a very high level quarterback recruit with highly impressive physical tools, ability and upside. Plumb just spins the football as well as any kid I've seen this young at the high school level and his continued growth and development will be a big time story line to follow. Plumb I still feel will become a Power 5 quarterback in the Class of 2025 and be a nationally sought after name sooner rather than later.

907 QB Braden Tischer Lincoln Way East 2024 - Steady, consistent signal caller and athlete who just does a lot of good things here. Tischer had a very strong 2022 season for the Griffins and I'm excited to watch his development for the next two seasons. Has the ability to beat teams with his arm and his legs. While Tischer doesn't have major D1 level size, his game will speak for him no question. Could develop into a potential FCS/D2 level recruit.

910 QB Connor Dennis Rockford Boylan 2024 Dennis has good size and i also another name to watch this spring and summer. I was impressed last season with Dennis's pocket presence and patience and his ability to stand tall in the pocket and deliver the football with good consistency.

914 QB Leo Slepski Providence Catholic 2026- Threw a pretty good football here and just hung in there and went throw for throw against some of the better overall quarterbacks here. Again this was something you just don't see from younger guys at these events.

916 QB Patrick Heneghan New Trier 2025 I have seen Heneghan a few times now and he's been a consistently strong quarterback, throws a good ball and was highly accurate with his passes all day.

918 QB Alessio Milivojevic St Francis 2024 I've seen Alessio several times over the past year and his continued growth and development remains impressive. The baby fat is gone, he's become a bigger, stronger and more athletic signal caller who's confidence in his game and decision making continues to grow.

926 QB Robert Pops Battle East St. Louis 2024 Robert Pops Battle has been at my camps now for what it seems like 10 years....but in all seriousness his game continue to get better and improve every time I see him in person. Battle checked in at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds and still looks like he will be able to add a bit more weight and strength down the line. Battle throws a very good football, is very accurate and just has a high level feel and confidence in his overall game. I also like Battle's combination of arm strength and touch on his deep ball wich is greatly improved from a year ago.

929 QB Matthew Lee Grade School 2028- Yes...a 7th grader. Every year over the past few showcse camps we've allowed young guys into the camp at quarterback....and in more cases than not the perform pretty well. Matthew Lee, who is son for former Loyola QB Peter Lee looks the part here, threw a consistently good football with accuracy and if you did not know it ahead of time you'd think he was an upperclassmen. Lee already has the size (6-foot-2) and the frame to develop and add more strength soon. A name to watch out for here for sure.

935 QB Diego Gutierrez Riverside-Brookfield 2024 - Diego is another very familiar name on the camp circuit who is always a strong camp performer and was here again on Monday. Gutierrez has added a bit more muscle and strength has gotten a bit taller as well. Gurierrez I feel as FCS/D2 ability and potential and his game and ability to throw the football has never been a question for mw when evaluating him. Now that his body is starting to develop along with his game....this is a name to watch this spring and summer.

939 QB Carson Boyd Cardinal Ritter 2024 OOS kid who was an East St. Louis Flyer a few years ago, Boyd was really impresive here. Boyd is already a high level athlete who can play more than a few spots if needed. Yet Boyd's arm strength, feel for the game and instincts make him a very good and a very danfgerous RPO threat at the hgiher college level.

Great Book

5 Star QB - It’s Not About the Stars, Its About the Journey.

Heard about this book on a podcast recently and dove into it this week. It’s outstanding and a book many on the board would enjoy.

Book is simply 600 pages of advice from current and former 5Star QBs on their journey through high school and college. Lots of advice from their parents and big time college coaches as well (David Shaw, Lincoln Riley, etc.).

Numerous quotes from JJ McCarthy.

Couple quick nuggets, most of the QBs weren’t into the camp circuit or posting their offers on social media. Feel like the industry tells kids they need to push this stuff but it’s an illusion.

Would recommend this and Matheny Manifesto to any parent with young kids in sports.

Podcast: Must Listen Coaches Corner with Clint Cosgrove and Openforce NIL talk

Some outstanding info in this podcast for anyone looking for more details on Name Image and Likeness at the college level is all about.

My Take: EDGYTIM/EFT MLK Showcase ATH/RB/LB session

This was held on Monday at The Max Center in McCook....and we've been able to hold this event for over 10 years now and counting. Overall we had very good numbers here (we limit overall signups by position so not to get too many kids not getting reps and work) and we start the day with the OL/DL group....then roll in the rest of the different position campers as the morning and afternoon rolls on.

Again for the record...let me clarify. I try to watch and see as many kids as I can at these showcase and camp events....but I've yet to be able to find a way to watch 300 plus kids in one spot at one time...and I can and will miss seeing some additional top names...but I'll keep trying my best to see as many kids as possible. Also when your name is on the billing it pulls me away in a million at times and I rely pretty heavily on feedback from various coaches and media aka people who I trust here along with my own in person evals. I've said this before and will again....the hardest thing for me to do is get a really good feel on the top kids at this event when I'm not 100 percent locked into it for multiple reasons.

My Take: EDGYTIM/EFT Showcase OL/DL Session

So Who Stood Out ATH/TE/RB/LB Session

201 TE Jack Berger Deerfield 2025
Good sized kid here (6-foot-3, 212 pounds) who I definitely want to go back and watch more film on this winter. Moved pretty well in positional work and has the frame to get bigger and stronger.

203 TE Logan Farrell Hersey 2025 - Logan Farrell was our Semper Fi Award winner from this group on Monday as the best overall player in his wave in the showcase. Farrell is highly advanced physically, has gotten even bigger and stronger while his ball skills, hands and high level. Farrell as a 2025 kid seems already physically ready for the high college level and a name here who will draw a ton of serious looks this spring and summer.

302 LB Dalton Brown Edwardsville 2024 I've been a big fan of Dalton Brown for a few years now. Brown has been a starter for the Tigers since his freshman season and is a very steady, hard nosed linebacker who just makes plays. Brown doesn't have ideal size for the high college level but his game is high level and I can see him getting quite a few FVC/D2 attention this summer.

303 LB Noah Pfaffin Lyons Township 2024- Noah Pfafflin is another familiar camp name and a very strong player who had a good junior season for Lyons in 2022. Pfafflin was one of a handful of two way players last season for the Lions (WR/OLB) and was strong at both sports. I still feel a bit mixed on where Pfafflin will wind up positionally....and he does is show up, goes hard and has some impressive athletic ability and physical tools. Just a lot to like here and the next 4-6 months will tell us much more on Pfafflin's recruiting stock.

309 LB Ben Alvarez Yorkville 2024- Love Ben's overall game and upside and this was the second camp of mine that he attended that I wasn't able to talk with him lol. Alvarez has very good size, runs well and can more than handle himself covering backs out of the backfield in pass coverage. Alvarez will also keep getting bigger and stronger from here on out.

316 LB Jordyn Stewart Homewood Flossmoor 2024- H-F and head coach Terrell Alexander always brings a ton of kid and several of whom have real talent and potential. Stewart no question has game, has the look and physical tools and upside to continue to develop into a higher college level linebacker and/or SS type.

319 LB Cornell McIntosh East St. Louis 2026 East St Louis has also always sends us a ton of talented kid and McIntosh still has some additional work to do...but his raw overall game, size (6-foot-1, 220 pounds) and and potential was very noticeable here.

322 LB Leon Howard East St. Louis 2026 Leon Howard might have been the most impressive 2026 name I saw here last Monday. Howard also already has impressive size (6-foot-2, 210 pounds) and just runs well, has impressive speed, start and stops on a dime and just looks like he bring a wallop. A lot to like here in Leon Howard.

403 RB Walker Owens Wheaton North 2024- I'm not sure what position Walker Owens will play in college to be honest....and he was easily the tallest RB in this group....yet his overall on the hoof eyeball passing physical size and tools are impressive. Walker played running back and defensive line in 2022, and to me he looks like more of an ILB. Regardless of position, Walker is an intriguing name and athlete to watch this off season.

412 RB Alonzo Manning Jr. Mount Carmel 2024_ Yes, Manning Jr. isn't the biggest kid here (5-foot-5, 165 pounds) but he's a ball of energy who has an electric personality to match. Does really well in positional work and one on ones and he could wind up being an interesting slot type in the right offense at the next level. I just love this kid.

417 RB Brandon Brigham Homewood Flossmoor 2024- Another impressive H-F athlete to watch here.Brigham has good size, runs well and was just in the higher tier o a very good running back group at this showcase,

419 RB Michael Pryor Evanston 2026- Yet another underclassmen name to watch who was also strong in this event all day. Evanston just seems to have an abundance of skill athlete year in and year out and Pryor will be a name on the rise.

427 RB Anthony Holloway St Patrick 2024 - Holloway is another impressive overall showing here and was able to show a nice combination of sped, cutting ability and hands catching the backfield out of the backfield.

429 RB Nick Day Antioch 2024 Nick Day has been on my radar screen for over a year now and has a lot to like. Day has terrific combination of power and speed, runs and cuts hard and is a name who will show much better with pads on in contact.

610 ATH Garrett Reese Nazareth Academy 2025 Younger guy who at times showed some flashes as an overall athlete type. Reese is a name who could play WR/DB

615 ATH Jovan Williams Hillcrest 2024- Clint Cosgrove picked up on Williams at this camp and made sure I watched him a bit. Williams is a speedy, twitchy athlete who could end up playing WR/Slot and CB at the next level.

613 QB/ATH Colton Gumino Hersey 2025 - Listed as an athlete but Gumino is strictly a quarterback at the next level and a pretty damn good one. Gumino has a strong, very accurate arm and is also a pretty solid all around athlete who's more than capable of using his legs when required. Gumino is coming off a really strong 2022 season and I'm excited to see how he continues to develop physically. Gumino I believe is in line for a big time 2023 season for Hersey.

616 ATH David Coffee DeLaSalle 2024 Just a pretty solid all around WR/DB type of athlete here. Like Coffee's size (6-foot-1, 175 pounds) and length and he's a kid who will get bigger and stronger this off season. No question I'll keep an eye on his this spring and summer.

Next: QB/WR/DB Postion Group.

LW East- 10 starters back including 6 on defense

Mount Carmel - will have 8 starters back and a roster still loaded with underclassmen talent.

Providence Catholic- 11 starters back several on the defense
