What did we learn week 3!?!?!?!

Based on what? The one chance 4A Rochester got the opportunity to meet 7A St. Rita in the 5A state championship game, Rochester destroyed St. Rita. No one knows who will win what game when it comes to High School football. Sure for the most part we can predict results however, each year teaches us this lesson. The classes are built on enrollment and not skill. Based on the rhetoric on this board, BR should be able to win every other conference in this state except for the CCL blue. The reality is there is only a hand full of conferences that I can see them having a chance to win. The rest results will be similar to the CCL Blue.
Your statements continue to defy reason. As I understand your last sentence, you are suggesting Brother Rice is an average 7A program and would finish in the middle of the conference standings in most large-school conferences. This is true, in your mind, because the CCL/ESCC (Blue) is just an average conference. Here are the facts.

Over the last six seasons Brother Rice has had an aggregate conference record of 8 wins and 10 losses in the CCL/ESCC-Blue. That outcome is slightly below average. The last sentence of your post above indicates you believe they would also have an average conference record if they played in other large-school conferences.

Over the last six seasons Brother Rice has made it to the playoff semifinals 3 times. There are three other 7A schools that have made it to the semifinals at least 3 times. They are: Mt. Carmel - 4 times, Batavia - 3 times, and St. Rita - 3 times. I'm sure in your mind those three programs are all very average programs just like Brother Rice. And the fact that 3 of the 4 teams play in the Chicago Catholic League (or CCL/ESCC to be specific) has no special meaning to you.

There are approximately 498 Illinois high school football teams eligible to compete in the playoffs. Dividing that number by 8, because there are 8 classes, results in there being about 62 football teams in class 7A that are eligible for the playoffs. 58 of those teams have made it to the semifinals less than three times over the last six seasons. 50 of those teams have not made it to the semifinals even once over the six-year period of time.

Brother Rice's playoff performance over the last six years has been better than 93% of the 7A teams in the state. And yet, you will sit there and write that they are an average 7A program. You will sit there and write that the CCL/ESCC (which has produced 6 of the last 10 champions in class 7A) is an average conference. That is utter nonsense.

I will end with the comment I made in the beginning. Your statements continue to defy reason.

Glenwood 45 Rochester 17 final

There is no such thing as RPO blocking. RPO is a scheme not blocking technique.

You can run an RPO offensive scheme and have tough/hard nosed blockers as well.

The RPO makes O Linemen soft and reliant on help. When I was at Glenwood, Mike J and I preached getting physical and if possible use the "Man blocking" rules when a player was having no problem with his gap/man. We always had one OL that was a punisher but we didn't have 5 at one time during my time at Chatham. If you don't get in the chutes and find out how much fight you have in the dog, as a coach you may be setting yourself up for failure. On a side note: I have seen, too many times, where a team can NOT get 2 yards when they needed it and that is all ya need to know about RPO blocking.
The Philadelphia Eagles have probably been the most heavy RPO team in the NFL the past few years.
They’re also known for having a very good line and are basically famous for being able to get a yard or two when needed.

WB6 Week 4 Really Speed cap!

Busy weekend for me, so you all just get the quick and dirty this week.

Sterling 40 @ Galesburg 3: Sterling goes off after a huge defensive performance and 5 passing TD night from Drew Nettleton

Geneseo 16 @ United Township 34: Down at half, UT explodes for 20 points in the second half to beat the Leafs.

Rock Island 14 @ Bradley-Bourbonnais 49: Rocky still looking for answers as they are slowly overwhelmed by a tough Bradley-Bourbonnais team.

Quincy 43 @ Moline 21: QB Brayden Little goes off again 20-29 for 437 yards and 6 touchdowns as Quincy makes a statement.

Hahahahaha. Do not spread false rumors my man. You know nothing of what you speak about. Either way, ESL is cheating, openly, and we all allow/accept it. Therefore, they should win all the games.
So you’re saying the IHSA lets their cheat? But they don’t let Maine South cheat? Please explain. Remember if the family moves into another district it’s not cheating. Key word is MOVES. Please explain how the IHSA has looked the other way for all these years. Remember rules are the same rules for all public schools.

CS8 Predictions-Week 4

All.... Not as painful as the two runners coming week 8 and 9. And I'm not talking about the Solons. Lol... . Ratsy
To whom are you speaking of? Rochester against or Chatham against SHG/SHS? QND against Lincoln/U-High? Glenwood has faced Bonne Terre with a old school power runner. Rochester will get things fixed one way or another... THIS WEEK.

Hilltoppers 31 Marist 30 2OT FINAL

That was some game for sure.
Marist is a very good team. With ICCP, Providence, Iggy, Marmion & NND left on the schedule it is conceivable that they could run the table, or go 4-1.
They will get a favorable playoff seed and could go deep in November.
The Hilltoppers have some tough sledding ahead but I can’t help but view them as an awkward, somewhat clumsy teenage boy who grows into himself.
The boys will certainly be battle-tested come playoff time.
With the way the teams are slotted this season it's almost like the NFL now, so many close games that come down to wire.

I'm not going to argue with you about something i know too be fact.

He also tried to get a kid who was a rb from the west side (Proviso i believe) who ended up at Batavia.

Hilltoppers 31 Marist 30 2OT FINAL

Jaws was so smart in the first OT in taking the ball when he won the toss. The Marist D had already been on the field a long time and were gassed. First play —TD.
Was very surprised that Marist did not go for 2 on either OT TD. With that QB and #7 running it seemed a good bet.
Huge win. Now need to find 2 more to assure a playoff spot. But, let’s enjoy Homecoming!
I didn't even realize that JC won that toss. I thought because they were on offense first, they must have lost the toss. But if they won and took offense, that was a brilliant move that coaches rarely use. Yes, the Marist defense was on the field almost the entire fourth quarter it seemed like, much of it backed up to their own end zone.

As they strolled into the end zone on both OT scores, I thought to myself "this defense is completely spent."

Hilltoppers 31 Marist 30 2OT FINAL

Was at the game last night. Homecoming for JC which added a little extra buzz for an old ESCC matchup that hasn’t happened in awhile. Marist had plenty of opportunities to put them away. I thought JC was passing too much and once they found marists holes the double wing settled in and wore out the RedHawks. JC simply was not to be denied. Tough first loss for Fitz against a rival. GREAT high school football game.
They played last year in another thrilling JC win. Though not as thrilling as last night.

Agree that they tried to go to the pass a bit too much. When they started consistently running on all downs, they started moving the ball. The pass game yielded lots of open receivers but way too many drops or near misses.

It will be a fine balance. Pass enough to keep a defense honest but not too much because you don't want to get away from what you do best.
