Congrats to JRW! Being a Morgan Park grad and Beverly resident, I couldn't be prouder. My son's Ridge Beverly squad lost to JRW the last couple of times so I have seen this team up front and personal. I have also been proud of the support and camaraderie the league has with its parents and neighborhood.
I hope the after the cheering stops that all of the bloggers on this site take a minute and offer to support JRW and other inner city leagues around Chicago. Don't be an "ostrich" and stick "your head in the sand" when it comes to just being concerned with your son's or daughter's league.
Maybe if there were more JRW-type support from the suburbs, private and corporate sponsors, our embarrassing crime rate wouldn't be relevant.---and maybe that young "trouble maker" wouldn't be arrested and could be your next Frank Thomas, or even better, an investment banker or Nobel Prize recipient.
